Arthur is the King of the Circle of Knights, within the realms of Cicora. He has been present in Cicora for as long as anyone can remember and it’s sometimes believed that he is reborn every generation of kings, or that his blood is so strong that all of his descendants share his appearance.

Leading the Knights and acting as the Warrior King, he is the sword and shield for Cicora. A strong and regal man, he has a powerful bearing and is highly liked and well-respected by those in and out of his circle. Was married a long time ago but lost his wife and doesn’t talk about his family anymore.

Entrenched in his peoples’ lives, he tries to ensure he’s close with them and attempts to learn their true thoughts and feelings. A pinnacle of strength to all of the Circles, he and his knights bring a sense of comfort to others. Often seen with his broadsword, Excalibur.

Important Features

  • Has a long scar that runs down the side of his face and over his lips. it’s the most visible scar he has but there are multiple all over his body, mostly hidden by armour.
  • Is a wall of a man, muscular, built and physically strong. he’s the tallest of the kings, even towering over some of them.

  • Props are anything he would need as a knight or a king. He is always seen with his broadsword and normally has a twisted metal crown on his head. Can also be drawn with a wedding ring on a chain around his neck, though hides this from most people. Owns a picture of his wife holding a bright eyed baby.
  • Poses are often strong, regal, confident and brave, he attempts to be upstanding and powerful in the hopes that spreads to those he leads. Can be drawn fighting, protecting others, doing his work as king, injured, victorious or anything that implies his involvement in battle. Quieter moments bring with them grieving and make him quiet and solemn.
  • Expressions are normally quite serious, stoic and regal. He can seem warm in appearance and often smiles with those around him, especially his knights, whom he treats like family. Generally shows little emotion around the other kings, having to keep many of his thoughts to himself to avoid giving them ammo. On private and softer moments, is often reflective and sad.
  • Can be drawn romantically with Alexander, however it’s rarely in public and only when others are not around. In these cases he is gentle, soft and loving. When in public they put up a playful rivalry and antagonistic act.
  • Can be drawn platonically with Merlin. He, Merlin and Alexander spend a lot of time together. Is often quite amiable with them, and seems to enjoy their company.
  • Can be drawn with any of the other kings, but does not get along with them well. Very rarely shows them his true face.
  • Can be drawn with any of his royal knights specifically, especially Gawain and Guinevere. Treats them like his kids, and takes good care of them. They have a very good relationship, at least before Gwin's discovery.

The Seven Kings of Cicora determine our lives, our rules and our mindsets.

Cicora is a realm broken up into seven 'circles' all joined by long bridges. Each circle is controlled by a King, has a unique set of beliefs and values, and crests that each member has branded on their skin. The circles are Syndicates, Knights, Magi, Priest, Merchant, Beast and Inventors. A child will choose their circle when they come of age, unless they were born a Beast or Magi, in which they'd have little choice.

Within Cicora is also the Underground City, a general name for a location where those who have broken out of their circle, primarily women, non-binary or transgender people, who do not feel welcome in the Circles. The City is run by Dior Serafina and Archimedes Abraham, and it's location is known to the Kings, but has thus been untouched.

A regal man who holds himself with confidence and is highly charismatic and powerful. He draws others in and earns respect through his upstanding nature, kindness and presence. Has the natural bearing of a king and warrior. Brave and caring, he values his people greatly, and tries hard to do what's right. Even if it's difficult or he has to do it in secret. A hard-working and stubborn person, he hates giving up on things and will push himself to the very edges of his limits when he has a goal. This can make him hot-headed and passionate, especially when he's emotional, despite trying to control it. Presents himself as gruff and old-fashioned in many of his dealings, and tries to hide his emotions due to his role as king but he treats others with respect, especially his people. Better at trials of strength than brains, though he is far from a fool.

Gruff in tone with a deep, masculine voice and presents himself confidently, with a lot of power in every word he says. He’s easy to understand, well-spoken and clearly educated. Often his voice is warm and though he acts calm and tries to show himself to be level-headed and calm, he can be very emotive. Often this shows in raising his voice, getting competitive and aggressive with the other Kings, especially Alexander who knows how to push his buttons. Warm and joking with his Knights. Adrien works with Bella quite closely, practicing dance routines and creating music that will match her performance style. Though he is slightly over familiar with her and will sometimes receive threats in return. They've developed a teasing, playful relationship. Adrien likes getting her to come out of her shell and is trying to help her find comfort in other people's presence.

He also enjoys buying her new outfits, often dragging her out with him. Adrien has let Bella see into his mind so she has a good grasp over his feelings and how he struggles with himself and his upbringing. She shows signs of frustration at him hiding his struggles, but doesn’t bring it up. They very rarely discuss their pasts, he finds comfort in knowing she understands a similar upbringing and they fill their time with not thinking about their struggles.

Current

Adrien found his way to the Limbo Freak Show by chance. They were performing in town, to offer solace to the people during a hard economic hit. When he saw their show he saw a chance to escape from the life he'd been caged to. They saw his interest and saw something in him that was seeking freedom. He agreed to join them and travel to help bring light to other people.

He became their musician and choreographer. The Show has given him a sense of family and he's coming out of his shell a lot, finding comfort in their company.

History

Adrien was born to two musical geniuses. Isabella and Mateo Giovanni de Luca. The atmosphere he grew up in was suffocating and very strict. His oldest sister, Maria, grew to be cruel and unpleasant as well. Both Adrien and his younger sister, Ani, were struggling under their parents. Neither wanting to be constricted to their parent's plan for them. Even from a young age, Adrien has been very talented with instruments and music. The pressure of his parents made him avoid his responsibilities as much as possible in order to push back about it.

Becoming a little jaded and neglecting himself and his emotions, he tried to protect his sister as much as possible. When his father died, his mother grew even more controlling. Likely to help bring some more control into her life, that she believed she'd lost. When he realised she was going to lock him into a life he didn't want, he left home with no word to his mother or sister, only giving Ani a way to contact him.

Important events

Leaving home

Around the age of twenty, he finally managed to pull out from under his controlling mother. Not long after his father died and her treatment and personality worsened. This event helped him escape an abusive situation, and opened up his life for freedom and a chance to be comfortable in himself again.

Joining the show

Met and joined the freak show very soon after leaving home. Working a dead-end, boring job just to survive, he went to see them perform in the nearby town and was brought in by day/night, who saw a great deal of musical talent in him (As well as a lot of pain).

Reconnecting with his sister

A few years after having joined the freak show, he received word from his sister, Ani, that she was free from their parents and searching for her own direction in life. This event took a great deal of weight off his shoulders. Adrien is highly proud of his sister, and writes to her as much as he can.
